Taking advantage of Starbucks Wi-Fi

These legends from ‘Improv Everywhere’ take a break from this age of MacBook air ultra-portability. Bringing back the old-school they make use of their desktop computers fully equipped with windows 95 and classic box-like CRT monitors. Hilarious.

The future of the Internet?

Kizuna Satellite

Japan is launching the Kizuna satellite, which will bring high-speed internet access to Japan’s remote areas and surrounding countries, as well as providing continuous networking during emergencies. The project which costs $342 million is spearheaded by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). This is expected to allow internet connections reaching speeds of 1.2Gbps. This will dwarf current ADSL connections that typically allow data transfer to occur at below 8 Mbps. Users will need to install an antenna to be able to receive a signal (probably not too dissimilar to SkyTV satellite dishes). Depending how well it functions in July determines if this goes mainstream.

Quite possibly the future of the internet.
